Mmm.

After a rough 2020-21, THEMM! decided to shake off the rust by re-recording some of our oldest tracks from our earliest record. It seemed like a good idea at the time considering the band loves to play these songs live, and we have no recorded versions with us singing. The originals were sung by the aptly named current.singer, who moved on to much, much, much greater things.

Believe it or not, over the years, we learned to play our instruments a bit more, gotten a little better at recording, and collectively drink less beer. Sounds fun, right?!

THEMM! got to work in February 2022 and managed to tackle some original tunes, reanimating those songs' skinny youthful corpses from 2002 with the enthusiasm of our learned, older, relatively less drunk selves. It took a little longer than we expected, and we only made it through three of the original songs before we decided to write brand new songs, but we’re really happy with these rockin’ results and hope you are too.

Gone Away, our first ever song based on our first ever riffing, is as glorious as always.

Can't Sleep, our fourth ever song and the first conceived as a relatively complete song back in 2001 vs being born from drunken noise making, is extended ever so slightly. And given a little pedal steel, to spice things up.

Goodbye, our sixth ever song, has always been a band favorite and is the crown jewel of this little collective exercise.

And finally, a spirited cover of Guided By Voices' Watch Me Jumpstart --inspired by our infamous SXSW party, Jumpstart Texas, that'll celebrate its 16th year shortly after this release --> jstx.co
